You've probably done this.
Stood in front of a shelf — or scrolled through a website — and seen Body Mist, Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum, Extrait de Parfum all sitting next to each other at wildly different prices, with zero explanation of what the difference actually is.
So you either guessed, bought the cheapest one, or closed the tab entirely.
We're a fragrance brand. This is the one thing we should be completely honest about. So here's the actual breakdown — no jargon, no upselling, just what you need to know.
It's All About Concentration
Every fragrance product is essentially the same thing at its core: fragrance oil dissolved in a carrier (usually alcohol or, in our case, aloe and water). The difference between a body mist and an Extrait de Parfum is almost entirely about how muchfragrance oil is in that mixture.
More concentration = stronger scent = longer it lasts on your skin.
Here's how it breaks down:
Body Mist / Body Splash Fragrance oil concentration: 1–3% Lasts: 1–3 hours Best for: Daily freshness, post-shower, layering, warmer months
Eau de Cologne (EDC) Concentration: 2–5% Lasts: 2–3 hours Best for: Light, casual everyday wear
Eau de Toilette (EDT) Concentration: 5–15% Lasts: 3–5 hours Best for: Office, daytime, versatile daily use
Eau de Parfum (EDP) Concentration: 15–20% Lasts: 5–8 hours Best for: Evenings, dates, occasions where you want to last
Extrait de Parfum (Perfume / Pure Parfum) Concentration: 20–40% Lasts: 8–12+ hours Best for: Signature scent, special occasions, skin-close sillage
So Is a Body Mist Worth Buying?
This is the question people don't ask out loud but are always thinking.
Yes — but for specific reasons.
A body mist is not a budget version of a perfume. It's a different kind of product. Here's when a body mist genuinely makes more sense:
You want all-over freshness, not a concentrated scent point. Perfumes are applied to pulse points. Body mists are meant to be sprayed generously on skin, hair, and clothes. The experience is completely different — it's immersive, not targeted.
You have sensitive skin. High-alcohol, high-concentration perfumes can irritate skin, especially on the body. A well-formulated body mist — particularly one with aloe or water as the carrier — is gentler for daily full-body use.
You want to layer scents. Body mists work beautifully as a base layer under a stronger EDP. Same fragrance family, double the depth. This is actually how a lot of luxury fragrance houses sell their products — a body mist and a perfume in the same scent.
You're trying a new fragrance. A ₹199–₹499 body mist is a much lower-stakes way to live with a new scent for a few weeks before committing to a full perfume bottle.
Why We Make Both
At House of TBH, we currently have body mists at ₹499 and Extrait de Parfum at ₹799.
The reason we chose Extrait (the highest concentration) for our perfume line rather than EDP or EDT is specific: we wanted longevity without excess alcohol. An Extrait de Parfum typically has less alcohol than an EDT despite lasting much longer, because the concentration does the work the volume can't.
For HUKUM and MAHROON — our men's and women's Extraits — we wanted a scent that stays close to the skin rather than projecting loudly into a room. That's a characteristic of Extrait: it's intimate, not loud. It evolves on your skin over hours.
Our body mists are aloe-based — 5% aloe vera water, only 20% alcohol compared to industry standard 70–80%. They're designed to be sprayed liberally, feel good on skin, and give you a 2–3 hour freshness that you reapply through the day. Different job. Different product.
The Honest Recommendation
If you've never bought from us and you're not sure where to start — get a tester.
We sell 10ml tester packs of both our Extraits for ₹199 each. That's enough to wear a fragrance for a week and actually know if it's yours. Not a strip of paper. Not one spray in a store. A full week of living with a scent.
If you love it, we have an upgrade code that gives you the full value of your tester towards a full bottle. Because we'd rather you be certain than regret a purchase.
That's the honest answer to "what should I buy."
One Last Thing
Fragrance concentration is not a quality hierarchy. A beautifully crafted body mist is not lesser than an Extrait de Parfum. They're tools for different moments, different moods, different needs.
The best fragrance is the one you actually reach for every morning. Concentration is just the mechanism. The memory it makes is the point.
